About Jewelry By Melia

I don’t just want to create jewelry. I want to curate a collection of thoughtfully and intentionally crafted pieces that tell a personalized story. Every piece I make is designed with comfort and accessibility in mind.

The Face Behind It All

Hi, my name is Melia!

I am  originally from  the North panhandle of Idaho, but have called many places home and I currently reside in beautiful British Columbia in the North Okanagan. I love being outdoors! I love the freshness of the mountain air and a good body of water. I can appreciate a city, but prefer to be tucked away in a small town. I have a deep appreciation for music. Music must be playing 24/7 in my vicinity! I like to think of myself as a very creative person and love exploring mediums that are new to me. (It’s the Sagittarius in me I guess)

I started silversmithing in 2019.  After making jewelry for two years previously, I wanted to expand my skills. I had one lesson and then vigorously taught myself all the rest.

I started making jewelry for two reasons. One: because when I lived in Ireland, I found lots of Seaglass on the beach. My collection got out of control and I needed to figure out something to do with it. Two: I’ve never been able to find jewelry, especially rings that fit comfortably on my larger sized fingers. So I decided that I just needed to make it for myself.

I was drawn to sea glass because growing up at our cabin on the lake, once every few years we would find a piece of beach glass and it was like the most special treasure. I love the organic look and shape of the Seaglass and the natural textures it has from tumbling in the ocean for years.

I still make a lot of jewelry with Seaglass that I found in Ireland, but I also have been developing my own creative style with bright colored stones and textured metals. I draw a lot of inspiration from the places I’ve traveled and lived.

My rings range from size 3 to 17 and I can make even more sizes if necessary. It’s not too hard to make jewelry accessible in any size and it frustrates me when other jewelry brands don’t put for effort. So it’s very important for me to make a part of my mission statement to create inclusive jewelry.

I hope you feel a personal connection to the pieces and I'm so glad to create something special for you!
