Chlorine (other chemicals also) will turn your sterling silver black and make it difficult to restore.
Handle with care and place is a dry and safe place.
To clean tarnished Sterling silver take a soft clothe and rub the silver in circular motions or place in lukewarm water with a gentle detergent and pat dry with a soft clothe.
